Living in India - Environment
Welcoming Environment
Most international students in India praise the warm hospitality they experience in India. They are often invited to the homes by their Indian colleagues, and they easily form long-lasting friendships.
Safe Environment
Living in India is safe. Per capita crime rates in India are very low. From an International student's perspective, although India is densely populated and poor, most Indians are peace-loving, middle-path oriented, happy and warm hearted individuals. Aggression and cruelty does not come naturally to them. Most Indians are eager to help international students who need any help.
Inexpensive, Low Living Costs
Living in India is very inexpensive. Most International students have a very comfortable and safe living experience for as low as US$125 per month. Like in any society, India offers many cost options. There are 7-star, deluxe, newly built condominium complexes that cost a bundle and then there are safe, decent apartments in better neighborhoods that rent for a reasonable amount. You can choose your option depending on your budget and your desired lifestyle.
Growing Pains of Modern India
From the International perspective, living in India is not for the faint hearted. From the ring-side, this land of diversity also seems like a land of chaos and confusion - it takes a while for an outsider to see the order in the madness. Most cities are chaotic, bustling with busy people and are undergoing growing pains. Infrastructure is being worked on at all places, roads being built and high-rise buildings being constructed. Like the diversity of Indian society, the neighborhoods are diverse too. Rich neighborhoods in Indian cities offer everything an international student may ever want while the poor neighborhoods touch the heart and stir the emotions.
